Scholarship Program


​The Academy of Interpretation's Annual Scholarship is dedicated to supporting the next generation of language translators and interpreters in government, health care, legal, and educational settings. We are a nation of immigrants, and our industry provides us with a unique opportunity to help facilitate communication between two parties that wouldn't understand each other without bridging that gap in communication. The AOI is proud to be an organization performing these services that offer direct benefits to our community.

The AOI offers a scholarship of $500 to a college or university undergrad or graduate student who also understands the importance of providing interpretation services and is passionate about giving back to their community. We seek a strong individual whose career goals include helping bridge gaps in communication through language translation or interpreting.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must…

Be enrolled in an accredited trade school, college, or university
2
Submit unofficial transcript – ensures enrollment at university
3
Submit resume
4
Have a GPA 3.0 or higher and in good academic standing
5
Be a student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a language, linguistics, communications, legal, or medical field of study

Application Directions

Submit the following essay using the application form below.
1
Write an essay on the topic: Share why you are passionate about the role that interpreters and translators play in society (5,000 characters max). Discuss your career goals and how the scholarship can help you achieve them. Discuss how being bilingual has impacted you and how you would use the scholarship to help the community. The essay must be original. Any application with plagiarized content will be disqualified.

All applications must be submitted before Friday, July 26th, 2024.

Process

The AOI's staff will review scholarship applications and notify students before August 9th. Recipients will receive their winnings via mail within 48 hours of notification.

Scholarship Terms & Conditions:​

The application for this scholarship is free. We will not ask for any applicant's personal financial information such as a credit card or social security number at any point. The Academy of Interpretation will protect student's information and will not rent, share, sell, trade, or transfer student’s personal information.

​The AOI attempts to share this scholarship with as many students as possible but reserves the right to withhold disbursement in the event there is no suitable applicant that meets this scholarship’s requirements.

​Information gathered from the application process will not be used to solicit future business or commerce. However, your name, picture, and short bio may be used to promote the scholarship program that you are applying for, and used to verify that we do actually provide this service to the community. If your information is used in this manner, it can be found on our website.
